Brief Description
MCR were appointed to be the structural engineers for a timber framed Temple designed by Californian artist David Best. David is synonymous with the Burning Man festival held annually in Nevada. Up to 60,000 people visited the completed Temple over the seven days it was open, covering the inside of the structure and its central pillar with personal messages. At the end of the seven days the Temple was ceremonially set alight. The frame had to be designed to be structurally sound but slender enough to burn quickly. Foundations were designed to be removable ensuring the Temple left no trace on ground on which it was constructed.
